Thanks again.

This one is a bit trickier as the database currently does not have a formation called exactly “Cast up behind own lines and Lead DOWN the middle”. Only the one assuming its done by 1st couple from hte top, not 4th couple from the bottom.

I suspect that whoever entered the dance chose “Cast behind own lines and dance up the middle” as being the closest approximation.

We do hope to update the whole formation system at some point so there is a bit of a reluctance to change things at the moment. Though one fairly obvious option is simply to change the text of the formation to allow up or down the middle (and perhaps lead or dance).

Im going to leave this one open in case other members of the editing team would like to comment.

I would second to go for more generic figure descriptions even though the may sound a bit odd in the end. I could perfectly live with “Cast behind own lines and lead/dance down/up the middle or vice versa” - I take the formation info as a short recap of complexity of the dance, thus to me it wouldn’t be of interest in this section in which order parts of the figure appear.
Such a more generic figure description could be added to existing dances, e.g. Shiftin’ Bobbins or such where the exact cast/dance up isn’t listed as well in our database.
