Issue 2551: Suggestion for separate entries for all the revised and reprinted on line books

Object
Whetherly Book 1 (Publication)

Description

I would like to make the suggestion to give the (revised and reprinted) online versions of the books each a separate entry with of course redirections v.v. In that way the new publication dates will also appear more prominently (and inspire to some comparisons between old and new?) A bit the same was done with the Island Bay collection 1st and 2nd edition. Then there also will be the possibility to thick under ‘my collections’ which of the versions I have.

Hi Wanda, I am one of the editors of the re-published Whetherly books too, In this special instance, setting up a second entry is likely not going to happen as no structural changes have been made. The few cribs and diagrams that existed before the re-publishing were all okay and have remained unchanged. All new material being added through the re-publishing cannot be compared through the database entries as there is no old material online to compare to. The only difference are the page numbers (the numbers given right now refer to the original edition). The new edition has neither page numbers nor dance numbers; no page numbers as the new versions will constantly be updated and re-published with version numbers (e.g. when more diagrams can be included, shifting all pages or error corrections). Saying; in this special instance, there is no advantage in creating new entries. In other instances, there will be, and thank you for bringing this topic up!
