Hi Murrough, the two web.archive links given show dance descriptions. Any chance you can do quick’n’dirty cribs of them? Or should we/ would be put web.archive links online as resources? Need a bit of guidelines here.

Dear Viktor,

since the Web Archive stores snapshot from webpages at different timepoints in the past, it is a valid and valuable resource in the case a webpage vanishes.

In my opinion, we should give precedence to the original webpages. However, as soon as they (or important content such as dance descriptions) vanished, we should also state Web Archive links in the Online Sources. We have done so also in the past.

In case there are requests from devisers to remove such a link, for instance, because they published them in a book, we should remove them. (Although I do not like to withdraw content which has earlier been freely available anyways.)

Best wishes, Heiko

Hi Wanda, thanks for the info. I used the web.archive links for the time being and replaced/added them.

For the record, I have absolutely no objection to us linking to the web archive when a resource becomes unavailable in its original location.

In principle we’re prepared to remove links at the request of copyright holders as a matter of courtesy, but we reserve the right to decide this on a case-by-case basis. Note that merely linking to a resource that is published elsewhere on the Internet is not an action that is subject to copyright.
