Issue 2601: Mrs Wilson
- Object
- Mrs Wilson (Tune)
- Submitter
- Finlay Forbes
- Assigned to
- Murrough Landon
- Priority
- Normal
- Disposition
- Accepted
- Description
-
This tune appears as “Mrs Wilson’s Reel” in Donald Grant’s collection, where the authorship is attributed to “Mr Laughlan” (See Page 123 of the Highland Music Trust’s reprint included in “Highland Collections”). Bobby Crowe makes some minor adjustments to the melody line but it is clearly the same tune. What is more interesting about Crowe’s rendition is that it is played at what would now be considered “half speed” (i.e. using one bar of the written tune to cover two bars of the dance as in The Duke of Perth).

Thanks for the information. For the moment I just added an alias “Mrs Wilson’s Reel” and linked this issue from the extra info for the tune.
Unfortunately in the current website software extra info for tunes is not displayed to users. Hopefully this will be changed in the next version.
