Description

Good Morning,

I’d like to request that Recommended Music be specified for this dance. The tune should be “Doug Macdonald’s Birthday”, by Andrew Imbrie. This tune is already in the database at https://my.strathspey.org/dd/tune/13156/ .

If possible, could you also correct the spelling on the tune page? It should be “Macdonald” with a small d rather than a capital D. Please let me know if I need to submit a separate request for this.

Thanks very much for your help. I’m always amazed not only by the quality of the work you do, but the timeliness and accuracy of the database editing.

Thanks very much, Doug Macdonald

P.S.: One other thing: I’ve noticed that I’m listed at https://my.strathspey.org/dd/person/1438/ as the composer of tune called The “Marquis of Tweeddale’s Favourite”, which was used in Book 14 for the dance “Keep The Country Bonnie Lassie”. That’s definitely not me, as Book 14 was published seven years before I was born. There may be someone else of the same name. Again, please let me know if I need to submit a separate request for this. Thanks again.

Tune linked to the dance and its spelling corrected. Thanks.

The composer of the Book 14 tune is clearly a different person. Your dances and other details were mistaken added to the original entry for “D MacDonald”. I have now added a new separate entry for you (https://my.strathspey.org/dd/person/12243/) and updated your dances and group with Cynthia Kiser. I hope thats all correct now.

In general its probably best to have a separate issue for each separate item but was easier to keep both in this one now.

I forgot to add that in updating the dance I saw that our copy of the original instructions mentions a different tune (Burns’ Night). Probably we should mention that is was the preferred tune but is no longer?
