Hi Peter, I tried to understand what your issue is, but I am truly sorry, I don’t get it what exactly you are struggling with… The publication you mentioned WAS published in 2002 and all the dances in it as well. Where, why and when should we mention something about the 1st Edition - in most cases the publication date mentioned IS the first occurence of this publication… So, what do I miss?

If there’s a publication date in the database then that should refer to the first publication. Right now the database doesn’t keep track of individual “editions” (or reprints) of a publication, except that if a publication is reissued with significant changes – typically more dances added after the fact, or dances changed in noticeable ways – we will normally make a new database entry (with cross-references to the previous one).

There would be nothing wrong with mentioning reprints on the “Extra Info” tab but often that information is not conveniently available to database editors – as you know, we don’t actually own a copy of every reprint of every publication in the database.

The Scotia Suite entry in the RSCDS shop says that what is currently available is a “reprint of 2010 edition” [sic!] but I don’t think the dance/music content in that edition will be significantly different from the original. Certainly the list of dances is the same. We will react to this appropriately if/when a reaction is required.
