Description

On august 12th, Margaret Mackenzie mgtmackenzie@gmail.com submitted the following comment on the e-crib [here redacted for greater clarity]:

The description could accidentally be taken very literally that the same persons repeat the changes twice; and not that the set repeats the figure twice. i.e. 1s only change with 1st corner dancers, then each other, then 1cnrs again, then each other, etc., so that they never interact with 2nd corner dancers.

Some descriptions of the figure in other dances [like Equilibrium] clarify to repeat the ##figure## twice. They also add (Lady in top place always crosses diagonally with Man in 3rd place as others change on sides).

I am re-posting this comment as an issue, as Crib Comments do not leave a clear editing trace; if nobody acts they can just be forgotten.

I have now modified the e-crib to remove the possible misunderstanding.

Further comments are welcome.

Subject changed to “Comment on the e-crib for “Pieces of Eight” (SCDDB 10145; Wilkins)” (previously “Comment on the e-crib”)
Disposition changed to “New” (previously “Fixed”)

I am worried that there could be serious errors in the e-crib of “Pieces of Eight” (SCDDB 10145; Wilkins). I understand the figure is a “Grand Chain for 6 - fig8”; i.e. the same formation as in the dance “Equilibrium”. This does not have any movements “all change places LH with opposite”. We need to go back to the source. Can someone please send an original text to team@e-cribs.org?
