Issue 3355: Tunes in this set

Object
Strip the Willow (6/8) (Recording)
Submitter
Finlay Forbes
Assigned to
Murrough Landon
Priority
Normal
Disposition
Needs help
Description

I have just played this track on Youtube (Avino) and it does not include “Leaving Lismore” (a tune that would be incongruous in a set for STW). The first tune in the set is “The Muckin’ o’ Geordie’s Byre”.

Thanks. Certainly https://www.allcelticmusic.com/music/fbb7ae24-d975-102a-b8f3-000f1f67beb1/Fire_In_The_Kilt.html agrees with you in not including Leaving Lismore in the track list. So I have removed it and updated the track numbers (see below).

However the database thinks there are three other Jig recordings which include that tune (see https://my.strathspey.org/dd/tune/987/#recordings). Another Strip the Willow (by Jimmy Shand) and two more: https://my.strathspey.org/dd/recording/4285/, https://my.strathspey.org/dd/recording/3745/, https://my.strathspey.org/dd/recording/4797/

Are all those likely to be mistakes as well?

I notice the tune numbers in this recording were given as 1,2,2,3,4 rather than 1,2,3,4. And the same pattern is true for those three other Jigs with Leaving Lismore supposedly included. So this does seem very suspicious. Perhaps some batch database update gone awry?

Finlay, do you have any of those others to check?
