Issue 3408: "Morven House" in David Cunningham's set for Holyrood House

Object
Morven House (Tune)
Submitter
Finlay Forbes
Assigned to
Murrough Landon
Priority
Normal
Disposition
Being handled
Description

The tune that David plays under this name is the one that appears as “Meldrum House” in “Old Scottish Music etc.” compiled by Annie Shand and in which Annie Shand is named as the composer.

Jimmy Shand incuded the tune in his set for “Haddo House” (Originally on Parlophone F. 3421). The record label cites Annie Shand as the composer.

It is certainly not Ronnie Cooper’s tune “Norven House”.

Thanks. I have replaced the 2nd tune in the Holyrood House recording with “Meldrum House”.

I see SCDDB has tunes called both “Morven House” (Jimmy Shand) as well as “Norven House” (Ron Cooper). Previously the recording was claimed to include the Morven one, not the Norven one you mentioned.

I hope I understood correctly.
