Hmmm. When I look at that page it does actually show Book 53 in the list of publications. However its currently shown as 2nd after the Bannockburn book.

I think the publication priorities for the Bannockburn book, which is published by a RSCDS Branch, not the society itself, perhaps need to be changed? At the moment all the dances and tunes in the Bannockburn book have priority 10. Checking https://my.strathspey.org/docs/db/scddb-pub-prios/ I think they ought to be 20?

Perhaps Anselm can confirm this before we change anything?

Disposition changed to “Fixed” (previously “New”)

Murrough has it right: Dance priorities in the “10s” are reserved for publications from RSCDS HQ in Edinburgh. Branch publications should use priorities in the 20–29 range. If two publications have the same priority, their order in the listing is indeterminate (or, more likely, determinate if you’re a hardcore PostgreSQL guru, which amounts to the same thing).

We don’t (yet) have a similar policy for tune priorities. This comes with its own set of challenges, e.g., do we prefer two-handed piano arrangements over melody lines with chords over melody lines with no chords? Do original collections from the 18th/19th century (possibly in modern editions) take priority over modern collections, or random dance books? I’m afraid I haven’t yet thought this through.

In any case, I’ve set the priorities for everything in the Bannockburn 700 book (dances and tunes) to “20”. That should take care of this particular problem. Thanks for calling it out.
