- Description
-
Composer of Stumpie is not Donald Angus Beaton. Fiddler’s Companion shows the tune as originating in the 18th Century. Kerr’s Merry Melodies (1875-) and The Atholl Collection (1884) both contain it and were published some years before Beaton’s birth (1912). Beaton is acknowledged as the first source for the ABC transcription in Fiddler’s Companion.
