Description

The extra info tab gives a ‘variant’ from ETF and the video describes the dance as done in the “Old” style. Is there any basis for this in actual publications? And who/what is ETF? thanks

ETF is Eric Ferguson, formerly a very active member of the database editing team and writer of thousands of e-cribs. The early versions of his cribs were imported from a file which also contained his comments on some dances. These were later separated from the cribs themselves and moved to extra info. I have now updated the extra info for this dance to say that variant is a suggestion from Eric. I also removed the video comment.

I have seen people dance it with mirror figures of eight, but I think only as a personal preference. The original and revised RSCDS versions are right shoulder. The version in 50 Scottish Country Dances does not specify shoulders so perhaps people using that source do what they prefer. The dance has also been published elsewhere.
