I use this dance a lot for teaching. I have always used ``The Reverend John MacFarlane’’ for this. I use the Fiddlers 2 plus 3 recording, but either RSCDS one will do. You might suggest this in music.
Strictly speaking it is not a half grand chain as it is interrupted, 2 chain, 2 claps, etc

This issue from long time ago can be closed. We can’t connect recordings to the dance that are not specifically meant for this dance. “Recommended music” means “tunes”. The lead tune of “Reverend…” is “Quickstep”, which already is given as recommendation. As for the formation: we don’t list this specific variation of grand chain, and as usual, we only mention the next possible main figure of our list. This special version would only be taken on the list of formations if it appears on at least three dances by two different devisers - the editing team has no capacity of researching this, so the formation will stay as is for the time being.
