Have added “Torf’s Tune” by Muriel as tune. Could someone please check the tunes and their (full) names please? Needs help. Eric

I guess Torf (seemingly the dedicee of the tune+dance and co-deviser of the dance) who sent the issue gave the correct name “Torf’s Tune” and composer as “Muriel Johnstone”… and the tune is a 32 strathspey.

This fits with a web search for “Torf’s Tune” showing that two other dances (Torf’s Delight - http://timdoodle.com/scd/TorfsDelight.html, The Second of June - http://www.timdoodle.com/scd/SecondOfJune.html both dedicate to Torf) by Tim Harrison also suggest the same tune.

However, I doubt that one of the other “Three Score and Ten” in SCDDB (http://my.strathspey.org/dd/dance/14681/) really has this tune as recommended… I guess that was a mistake made due to the dances’ identical titles.

Cheers, Heiko

I got a copy for dance 14681, part of the publication West Lothian 70th, and it shows no recommendations at all. As for sure “Torf’s Tune” is wrongly associated with that dance, I deleted it, keeping the generic “Three score and ten” tune associated with it, albeit no recommendation is given in the original.

FYI, Muriel spells the title tune for Torf’s dance “Torf’s ‘Choon’” in her music books, and we have it in the database under that title, too. We should get rid of the separate “Torf’s Tune” entry in favour of an alias on the “Torf’s Choon” entry, to avoid confusion.

(Also there’s no point in sending copies of these comments to Torf, as IIRC he is sadly no longer with us. This issue has been around for a while.)
