The exact words for bar 1-8 are:
“1st man and 2nd woman dance a figure of eight around their partners: cross giving left hands and cast left around partner, then cross giving right hands and cast right back to place.”
and for bar 15-16 they are
“1st man casts down one place and 2nd woman casts up one place, while, 1st woman and 2nd man turn 3/4 giving right hands.”,
Now both couples face P, ready for the Reel of 4.
So all three times it is a LH or RH pass or turn, not a L or R shoulder pass.
Both cribs are correct on this. Eric

The letters R and L in Keith’s diagrams denote “right hand” and “left hand” explicitely, not right of left shoulders (rf. e.g. http://www.scottish-country-dancing-dictionary.com/krdiagram/keith-rose-symbols.html). The same is true for B and N for both or nearer hands. Thus, in my opinion the diagram is correct. Keith has the final word, I guess.
Best, Heiko

Thank you Heiko.
The path of the dancers is indicated by the arrows, these show dancers passing left or right as specified. The small capital letters (L R N B or X) indicate handing, (Left, Right, Nearer, Both or Crossed)
