Hi Ellie,
yes, there is a way. I entered for the “Ellen Wood” entry that it is identical to “Ellie Briscoe”.
Now, the entry “Ellen Wood” shows a link “Current name: Ellie Briscoe” under overview, while the entry “Ellie Briscoe” now shows “See also: Ellen Wood” in the same tab.
I hope that is to your liking.
Best wishes, Heiko

General question: could we arrange some option on the “person” page to “display the data for all linked identities” and/or “as member of a group”? Eric

The “Dances”, “Recordings”, etc. tabs on the “Person” detail pages already try to take into account works that the person produced as a member of various groups (I don’t know offhand about the various identities).
I don’t want to change this because the code is convoluted enough as it is. What I really want to do is to reorganise the way we store information on persons such that there is only one record for every person (right now there are two entirely separate records in the database for, say, “Ellen Wood” and “Ellie Briscoe”, even though they both describe the same real-life person, which from a database POV is a no-no; as far as I’m concerned it is one of Alan’s less stellar moments), and there can be several names associated with that person. We can take care of preferred names, nicknames, etc. in the same process.
This is a major change which will impact downstream users of the database and as such must be carefully managed, which is why I’m procrastinating on this, but eventually it will have to be tackled.

Hi Eric, hi Anselm,
I close this issue, because Ellie’s point is done, and the possible SCDDB changes in the future do only marginally relate to this.
Cheers, Heiko
