Dublin Scottish Country Dance Club was founded in 1966 by a group of Scots living in Ireland. Today, the membership is international, with ages ranging from a teenager to over-80. Visitors from other areas are always welcome. We dance on Thursday nights from 8:15pm at Dun Laoghaire Presbyterian Church hall. The Club is mainly a social, rather than teaching, dance group of around 2 sets, with instruction shared between three dancers on a monthly rota. Most weeks music is provided by John and Judy Barnes on accordion and fiddle respectively. We hold an annual dance, and at least one ceilidh during the year. Occasionally we provide entertainment at care homes and hospitals or for special events. The distances in this list are geodesic distances (“as the crow flies”) between places with dance groups, rather than road distances between dance venues. Also note that while there may be several dance groups in the same town or city, their dance venues may be distant from one another even though they are all lumped together under one marker on the map.
