1–8: 1st couple lead down the middle and back to top place
9–12: 1st couple, giving right hands, cross over and cast off 1 place (2’s stepping up)
13–16: 1st couple, giving left hands, cross over and cast, woman up around 2nd woman and man down around 3rd man to finish approaching 1st corners
17–20: 1st couple dance half reels of three across the dance begin by giving right shoulder to 1st corner. At end of reel 1st couple curves right to finish facing 1st corner positions on the diagonal
21–24: 1st couple dance a half reel of four with persons now in 1st corner positions (2nd woman and 3rd man). At end of reel, 1st couple do not pass each other with left shoulder, but curves right to finish in 2nd place on opposite sides.
25–32: All three couples dance “George’s cross”: All three couples dance petronella turn and set to bring everyone back to own sides in progressed positions. For 1st couple, 2nd man and 3rd woman this is a ‘normal’ petronella turn and set pattern. 2nd woman and 3rd man do an extra quarter turn on bars 25–26 so they are positioned behind their own sidelines facing inwards to each other for setting on bars 27–28. Similarly they do an extra quarter turn on bars 29–30 so that they are in new positions on own sides facing partners for setting on bars 31–32.
