Devised by Irene van Maarseveen, Pretoria. July 2005.
In celebration of marriage. A couple dancing the under-the-arm turns for the first time usually gets themselves tied in a knot. The last 16 bars of the dance form a Celtic knotwork pattern.
Notes:
If the set is a little wider and shorter than usual. it is easier for 2nd couple to dance down behind 1st couple on bar 4.
In bars 17–32, 1st couple dance round each of their 4 corner positions in turn, moving anticlockwise round the set, and passing corners alternately by the right shoulder and the left shoulder. They dance right shoulder round 4th corner position. then left round the 1st, right round the 2nd and left round the 3rd. Between each pair of ½ reels. 1st couple should pass partner closely in the middle of the dance, i.e. not finish in the line of the reels except at the end of bar 32.
