The dedication, explaining the title, reads “This was a favourite expression of Miss Jean Milligan of Scotland, who, along with Mrs. Ysobel Stewart, was responsible for the revival of SCD in 1923. She made you want to lift your feet off the floor and truly dance with your soul. She often said, ‘Dancing is a joyous thing and this must never be sacrificed to a preoccupation with drilling and detail.’ We owe her much here in Canada and Ontario where the revival caught on and spread, and for her attention to detail reviving old dances, and setting up standards for teachers and dancers alike.”
