The description of this dance was published December 1993 in the book “Angela’s and Tony’s Dances Books 1”, where it is stated “origin unknown”. Due to its large resemblance to “The Fireside Reel” from 1740 published in the “18th Century Book”, it is likely a variant of this one. It only differs in bars 17–24, where the “Set, Petronella Turn, Set, Petronella Turn” has been substituted by a Poussette up-and-down with less turning to do the progression. Possibly it was forwarded among dancers mistaking Petronella with Poussette…
