The dance was written to mark the occasion of the Royal marriage of Kate Middleton and Prince William, who met in St Andrews, as well as to celebrate Shelley’s own romantic association with the town. Both she, and fellow Torontonian Fiona Collinson (nee Jamison) – another member of the Georgina Finlay demonstration team – came with a group of Finlay dancers from Toronto over a decade ago to attend Summer School at St Andrews University. It was there that they met their future Scottish husbands, and eventually settled.
