Description

In the extra info, why the snide remarks about the well-written obituary by Lorn McIntyre in the Scotsman (“read with a pinch of salt”) and the under-stated nomination from Aberdeen for the Society’s scroll. Surely that was appropriate to the man himself. If whoever penned these remarks knew things about John the rest of us Drewry fans don’t know, please say so.

The online ressource for the obituary is no longer valid. I therefor deleted the link and the the comment of the previous editor. As to the understatement-section I cannot see anything there that would do John injustice; yet English is not my mother tongue. I never met him in person, yet from the stories I hear he seemed to have been some of a kind, as lots of creative people are.

Thinking it would be a pity to lose that obituary I just had a look in the web archive (wayback machine). Their last archive (2021) gave a redirection to https://www.scotsman.com/news/obituaries/obituary-john-drewry-scottish-dance-deviser-and-academic-1532036 which does still seem to be alive. So I will add that updated URL back to Drewry’s person entry.
