Information printed in the book “Winds of Change” (2018):

Roderick (Roddy) Johnston. was brought up in Corby, possibly better known as Little Scotland, Roddy studied the classical accordion from age of 10 and graduated through the British College of Accordionists exam structure to Final Grade. In the ’60s he was regional accordion champion and won a place in the finals of the All British Accordion Championships. He was also a member of the UK Champion Accordion Orchestra. After completing his studies he taught the accordion for a number of years before a change of career took him away from music.

Since returning to the accordion his love of Scottish Traditional Music has determined his musical direction. He attended Musician courses run by the RSCDS and now plays for local branch dance classes and at St Andrews RSCDS Summer School. Roddy also plays the Scottish Small Pipes. He now resides near St.Boswells, in the Scottish Borders, in sight of the Eildon Hills.
